It is with immense pride and great honor that I present this message on the occasion of the formation of the Pakistan Society of Thoracic Surgeons (PSTS)—the first professional body in our nation dedicated exclusively to the advancement of thoracic surgery.

The creation of PSTS marks a historic milestone in the evolution of surgical care in Pakistan. For decades, thoracic surgery has remained a subspecialty practiced with dedication but without a unified platform to represent its unique challenges and opportunities. Today, we change that narrative.

Our mission is clear: to foster excellence in thoracic surgery through education, collaboration, research, and advocacy. PSTS aims to bring together thoracic surgeons from across Pakistan under one banner—to share knowledge, set national standards, support training, and ensure that our patients receive care that is both evidence-based and tailored to our local context.

This society is not just an organization—it is a movement. A movement to elevate the recognition of thoracic surgery as a standalone specialty, to train the next generation of thoracic surgeons, and to contribute meaningfully to the global body of thoracic surgical science.

I am deeply grateful to all the pioneers, colleagues, and supporters who have stood by this vision. As we embark on this journey, I invite all thoracic surgeons, trainees, and allied professionals to join hands with us. Together, we will shape the future of thoracic surgery in Pakistan.
